Speed clips
Speed clips are quick-change terminal connectors designed to let anglers swap lures, sinkers, or pre-tied rigs in seconds without retying knots. They’re made from spring stainless wire and feature an open, curved design that allows tackle to slide on and off easily.
They’re commonly used in surfcasting and lure fishing when you need to change sinker weights or lure styles quickly — such as switching metal lures while targeting Kahawai or adjusting setups for Snapper in varying current.
Speed clips are convenient and save time, but because they’re open-style clips, many anglers avoid using them for very large, powerful fish where a more secure option like a coastlock snap may be preferred.
