Returns & Refunds Policy

At Oddies Marine, we want you to shop with confidence — both in-store and online. This policy explains your rights and how we handle returns, refunds and exchanges, in line with New Zealand consumer law.


Your Rights Under NZ Law

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) and the Fair-Trading Act 1986 (FTA), you are guaranteed that all products:

  • are of acceptable quality
  • are fit for their intended purpose
  • match their description or sample
  • arrive in good condition
  • are sold at a reasonable price

If a product does not meet these guarantees, you are legally entitled to a remedy — this may be a repair, replacement, or refund.


Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If something goes wrong with your order:

  • You are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund at no cost to you.
  • If the problem is substantial, you may choose the remedy. For smaller issues, we may choose the most appropriate solution.
  • We cover all return shipping costs for faulty, damaged or incorrect items.

Change-of-Mind Returns

We are not required to accept returns if you simply change your mind, but we do offer this as a gesture of goodwill:

  • Items must be returned within 14 days of purchase or delivery.
  • Goods must be unused, in original packaging and in resalable condition.
  • Return shipping costs are your responsibility.
  • Refunds for change-of-mind returns may be issued as store credit, exchange, or refund (a restocking fee may apply).

Digital Products

For digital items (such as manuals or charts in PDF format):

  • We cannot provide a refund once the product has been downloaded or accessed, unless it is faulty or not as described.

How to Request a Return

To help us process your return quickly, please:

  1. Contact us within a reasonable time (ideally within 14 days) by email at info@oddiesmarine.co.nz or phone 03 573 8369.
  2. Provide your order number, purchase date and proof of purchase.
  3. Share a brief description of the issue (photos are helpful if applicable).

Refund Processing

  • Refunds will be made to the original payment method.
  • We aim to process all refunds within 5 business days of receiving your return.

Disputes & Complaints

We take customer satisfaction seriously. If you are unhappy with the outcome of your return:

  • Please contact us directly — we’ll review the matter promptly.
  • If it cannot be resolved, you can seek assistance through the Commerce CommissionConsumer Protection NZ, or the Disputes Tribunal.
